Rockin' the Colonies tour ~ The Alarm, the Fixx and The English Beat.
One long weekend, three awesome shows and me!
07.24.08 ~ Thursday night at the Fonda Theater, Hollywood CA
07.25.08 ~ Friday night at the Sunset Station Casino, Las Vegas/Henderson NV
07.27.08 ~ Sunday night at the House of Blues, Anaheim CA
The Alarm was pure, no holds barred, ear-splitting rock music from the second they stepped on stage. The band has great energy, Mike Peters is amazing. Since battling back from leukemia TWICE, the older Alarm songs have taken on a new layer, a new meaning. Their new songs from Guerilla Tactics are about Mike Peters' leukemia fights.
The Fixx were amazing as well. The first night, I actually left the room; I just wasn't feeling it at all. My loss. The Fixx are stellar musicians - Jamie West Oram rips that guitar like nobody's business. Cy Curnin, the lead singer...charismatic, fascinating to watch. I was truly fixated (no pun intended) by his movements and mannerisms...damn.
The English Beat - what can I say? My favorite band. Some of my favorite people are in this band. As many times as I've seen them, last night's show in Anaheim ranks up there as one of my favorites - the energy, the crowd, the feeling I had during the show - it was all good.
Below are some of my favorite photos of the weekend. The rest can be seen at flickr.com
